This is the information age; the age of global networks, online databases, real time information, desktop supercomputers, expert systems, neural networks, chief information officers, and knowledge workers. Today, effective management of information is critical to the success of any organization. It is even now more critical at the dawn of the 21st century. 

The Pontikes Center is dedicated to the advancement of practical and theoretical knowledge and learning in management information systems. The Center was established in 1989 at the College of Business and Administration, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, with a $1 million endowment from the late Kenneth N. Pontikes, founder and CEO, Comdisco Inc.
